Roles & Responsibilities
SET DESIGN
The Set Designer collaborates with the Director and Stage Manager to create and oversee the construction of a set that supports the performance’s artistic vision and practical needs
Responsibilities include but not limited to
- Design the set in coordination with the Director and Stage Manager.
- Communicate set plans to carpenters and painters, overseeing construction to stay on schedule.
- Provide a budget for approval and acquire necessary materials.
- Coordinate set erection, dismantling, and storage after performances.
- Dispose of unusable materials or return them to storage post-production.
PROPS MANAGEMENT
Props Managers are responsible for sourcing, organizing, and maintaining all props needed for a production, ensuring they are readily available and aligned with the director’s vision.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Collaborate with the Director to determine prop needs.
- Source, create, or borrow required props within the production budget.
- Organize and label props for easy access during rehearsals and performances.
- Ensure props are in good condition and available when needed.
- Track and store props after each performance.
- Return borrowed items or properly store/dispose of props after the production.
COSTUME AND STYLING
Costume and Styling volunteers design, source, and maintain costumes to reflect the characters and themes of the production, ensuring the cast looks cohesive and
stage-ready
WARDROBE
Wardrobe and costume volunteers manage all wardrobe needs for a production, ensuring costumes are sourced, fitted, maintained, and organized to enhance the performance and support the cast.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Work with the Director to determine wardrobe needs and acquire items by borrowing, renting, or purchasing.
- Arrange cast fittings and provide a wardrobe budget for approval.
- Label and organize costumes for rehearsals and performances.
- Ensure costumes are clean, ironed, and ready before each performance.
- Store costumes between shows and return or dispose of them after the final performance.
HAIR & MAKEUP
Hair and Makeup volunteers create and apply styles that bring characters to life, ensuring the cast’s appearance aligns with the production’s vision and is stage-ready for every performance.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Work with the Director to determine hairstyles and makeup for each actor.
- Provide necessary hairstyling and makeup supplies for the cast.
- Offer a budget for approval and hold a makeup demo if needed.
- Ensure actors’ makeup supplies are individually organized.
- Attend dress rehearsals and performances to assist with hair and makeup.
